"The Dheds, the lowest caste among the Hindus found in every town and village from their nukhs, or family names, many of them appear to have been originally Rajputs descent. for instance, we find among them Solankis, Chavadas, Jhalas, vaghelas, & C; the Hindus consider themselves polluted by their touch. Their profession is that of weavers, cobblers, wood-splitters, and tanners. They also take the hides and entrails from the carcasses of dead animals. Those WHO SERVE AS GOVERNMENT OFFICERS ARE ALSO CALLED MEGHVALS"
